Green Screen 2008: A film festival to raise awareness of Climate Change, and what we can do about it.

Green Screen 2008 is a small-scale environmental film festival that grew from an idea sparked by comedian/eco-warrior Mark Watson, a group called Crap At The Environment (CATE), and the UN's list of 'things you could do to mark World Environment Day'.

The festival's main aim is to raise awareness of climate change, by presenting it in a way that's accessible to those of us who aren't top science brains (and maybe those who are, too). It'll also provide a few answers to the eternal question 'what can we do about it?'.

Green Screen will feature mainstream and independent films and documentaries, talks by top experts in the climate change field, and an original take on Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth presentation. There'll also be the chance to find out more about a variety of local and national campaigning groups and environmental organisations

Green Screen is being run in collaboration with the No 3 cinema (the new sister cinema to Portmsouth's Independent No 6 cinema). It is being supported by Portsmouth University Union and Portsmouth University People & Planet.
