Melting Ice - Rising Sea: Antarctic Climate Change and the Environment
Public lecture by Dr Colin Summerhayes, an oceanographer and geologist
Antarctica and Greenland are both losing land ice, making sea level rise ever faster, and raising sea-level globally including UK. Colin will argue that there is much exciting scientific research still to be done in physics, chemistry, biology, geology, mathematical modelling and remote sensing from satellites to fully understand how the continent may respond to further change, and to predict with confidence how fast global sea levels will rise as more ice melts.
Organised in partnership with the Royal Geographical Society Southern Region to celebrate National Science and Engineering Week 2012.
