Global engineering firm Siemens has announced plans to develop an £80 million offshore wind turbine production facility in the UK, becoming the latest foreign multi-national to show interest in the UK offshore wind market.

When constructed it is expected to provide 700 new jobs - plus additional indirect jobs in the supply chain - and Siemens said it would have the potential to expand to meet further expansion of the sector.
