GaN LED lighting to replace 'Energy Saving' bulbs

All those people panicked by the rise of 'Energy Saving' bulbs and the demise of the old incandecent bulbs should take another look at the latest news.
A Cambridge University research team has helped UK industry to create a new kind of LED light 'bulb' that could prove to be an amazing winner. 'You and Yours' on BBC Radio 4 reported that the GaN LED bulbs will last 60 years, will produce light that is of similar quality to sun light and will be 10 times cheaper to produce than current LED lighting.
A UK company called RFMD will be setting up production in Durham, it should be about 5 years for commercial production to start.
