Hungry for One World Event

One World Week  Portsmouth One World Week is inviting everyone to their “Hungry for One World Event” at The Hub, Dennis Sciama Building, Burnaby Road, University of Portsmouth. PO1 3FX on Sunday 18th October 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm.

 

The event will include workshops on climate change, unity, communication, and public speaking plus presentations and discussions including various faith perspectives on hunger and links between the water we drink and round-about wells in South Africa. There will be information stalls and a Fairtrade fashion show plus games and activities from around the world, exhibitions and quizzes, cultural crafts, Fairtrade fashion and practical actions to strengthen one world.  There’ll be a PCAN stall persuading people to sign up for the 10:10 campaign  and an Oxfam/People & Planet one with Oxfam materials on climate change. The local WDM group will be getting visitors to sign messages to local MPs so there will be lots of green action.  Tickets are only £1 and are available from Sue:  02392 250267,  sue*portsmouthcan.co.uk, Linda Collins at Portsmouth Central Library, PRENO, Café Coco and the Hub at the University of Portsmouth.

 

 Groups involved include: PRENO, Portsmouth Interfaith Forum, Portsmouth City Council, Portsmouth Climate Action Network, CAFOD, the Ogroshor Bengali Women’s Group, Oxfam, People & Planet,  World Development Movement,  Solent Speakers,  Portsmouth Fairtrade Forum, Portsmouth Libraries, the Red Cross, Refugee Action.
