Scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (US) report that Arctic air temperatures have reached record highs as the melting ice witnessed this year reduces the amount of solar radiation reflected. One of the fears scientists have is that the melting ice across the world will reduce the amount of sun light reflected back into space, this will increase temperatures on earth, which in turn will melt more ice. Thus there is a potential to create a feed back loop that continually increases temperatures to an uninhabitable level.
